This guide summarises what’s publicly known about Hazelwood Homecare, a Haslingden-based domiciliary home-care agency serving Rossendale, for families considering it for a relative. Of the Lancashire home-care agencies we’ve profiled, this is the one with the most recent CQC inspection — published 2025 — so the public picture is fresher than most. Sources are linked at the end.
The basics
- Service type: Home-care service (visits people in their own homes)
- Provider: Hazelwood Homecare Limited

There is also a separate Hazelwood Homecare Limited (North) location registered with CQC at a different address — worth checking which entity any quotation or service is from.
CQC rating
- Overall: Good
- Latest assessment: site visits 29 March–2 April 2025 (report published 1 May 2025)

What the 2025 inspection found
The published 2025 assessment highlights several positives:
- “There were enough staff who safely visited people in their homes in accordance with their preferred times.” This is one of the most directly family-relevant findings any CQC inspection makes — adequate staffing and visits at agreed times is the foundation of domiciliary care quality.
- “Staff were well trained and inducted into the role.” Training quality is a leading indicator of service quality.
- “People told us they felt the staff were kind and caring, with one relative saying: ‘They are just amazingly caring.’” Direct family testimony, captured by the inspector.
- “Everyone spoken with said they would recommend the service.” In a small inspection sample this is meaningful.
These are stronger findings than most fresh inspections of small domiciliary agencies produce. Treat them as a baseline that’s been independently verified within the last twelve months — much more current than the 2018-era inspections common in this sample.
How to use this guide
If you’re considering Hazelwood Homecare for a relative:
- Read the CQC profile and the full 2025 assessment report (linked from the CQC page)
- Call the agency on (01706) 836423
- Ask the questions in our guide on knowing if a home carer attended a visit before agreeing to start
- The 2025 inspection is positive — useful questions to test that the picture is stable today:
“The 2025 CQC inspection said you had enough staff visiting people at their preferred times. What’s that look like in practice — what’s your visit attendance rate, and are families able to see when their relative’s carer arrived?”
A registered manager who can answer that with specifics is a strong signal.
What this profile doesn’t tell you
Even a recent CQC profile is a partial picture. It doesn’t tell you:
- What individual carers are like (the rating is for the service as a whole)
- Whether visits this week — not at inspection time — are being delivered on time
- Whether records you’d want to see (visit logs, daily notes) are produced cleanly on request
For all these you need direct contact with the agency and ideally a conversation with someone currently using the service.
